The species in this section are now considered to be part of section Aporum but differ in that many of the species produce pseudobulbs that start out enlarged and become long, narrow stems from which the flowers are periodically produced. The most common species in the section, Dendrobium crumenatum, appears to mass-flower in response to sudden drops in temperature such as those following strong thunderstorms.
